Day 3/ Sunday, July 8th – JUNEAU – You have a good chance to see humpback whales early this morning before your arrival in the picturesque capital city of Juneau. Orcas also thrive in these waters. What a thrill to see the antics of these guys who just happen to be at the top of the oceanic food chain! They have little fear of you or your massive cruise ship. It would be unusual not to see one or more bald eagles in the tall tress that line the shore. Juneau has much to see and enjoy. There are more things to see and do than you have time for today in port, so choose wisely. A tram ride to the top of Mount Robson gives you an incredible panoramic view of the surrounding area. It departs right off the ship in downtown Juneau. Or you might choose to indulge in some deep sea fishing, or get some souvenirs in the quaint shopping district. A tour to famous Mendenhall Glacier is also a fascinating experience! Whatever you choose to do, have a great day! Then it is back to the ship for an evening of excellent dining and exciting entertainment. |

Day 4/ Monday, July 9th – SKAGWAY – Today you dock in historic Skagway, the jumping off point of the Klondike Gold Rush! Thousands of gold-crazed adventurers (mostly men, but a few women) swarmed this small community to begin their arduous trek. Unfortunately, only a few miners made it big and the rest returned home or died penniless! |
